The Real Estate industry has had significant changes over the past several years and no group has been more impacted than appraisers. I am in continuous contact with appraisers throughout North Carolina and out of state and I understand the impact that these changes have had on our profession and our individual businesses. I typically have devoted and will continue to devote this blog to what is happening in the appraisal world and providing you with timely information on issues that impact our profession. However, for my September edition I wanted to take an opportunity to tell you about some exciting changes happening with North Carolina Real Estate Education, Inc.
Names and Faces
Names
Since 2002, we have been North Carolina Real Estate Education, Inc. (also referred to as “NCREEI” ) and you will continue to see us use this name for some months to come. You will also start to see us refer to ourselves as BrightPath Education Services and we will gradually transfer over to this new name altogether. Complete with a new web site, new courses, new email addresses and other things too numerous to mention in this blog. Here is our new logo. As always, I welcome your feedback.
Faces
We also have some familiar faces that you have come to rely on over the years.
Erin Black, my wife, School Director, and the person many of you been working with for years. She directs the school on a day-to-day basis and will continue in that role.
Bud Black, my dad and an expert appraisal instructor that many of you know and respect. He will be taking an expanded role by not only teaching courses, but also developing curriculum and supervising subject matter.
Joyce Pusey, my R course teacher from way back and a much respected and accomplished instructor. She will continue to teach the qualifying and continuing education classes and will also continue to develop classes.
We are adding some behind the scenes staff that will help us to continue to grow our business and still provide a high level of quality and customer service.
Brian Handly joins us after a long career in the technology business and will be helping us to find ways to continue to build the business.
Tracey Myers will be assisting Erin in making sure that the business is running like a well-oiled machine. You may also start to get emails from her or hear her voice when she is answering the phone. She will be taking on much of the role of Jenny Profet who will be leaving us to pursue a full-time job in her field as an architect. We wish her well in her new job.
Other Instructors and classes:
We are also looking at working with other instructors (some we have worked with in the past) to help us offer you a wider variety of classes and content. We will be testing some 4-hour courses this fall approved for both appraisal and real estate and I welcome your direct feedback to me at mel@brightpathedu.com.
Why all the fuss?
Good question. I think that this profession holds a great deal of promise and that this is a great time to expand the business to better serve you and the profession. Many of you may not be aware of Erin’s, Dad’s and my backgrounds and formal graduate-level training in education but given our roots and the rapid changes of today, I think that it has never been more important to provide great education to appraisal and real estate professionals.
I can’t end this blog without thanking all of you for choosing us for your professional education over the years. Your participation, feedback, and respect for the way we deliver quality material are all very much appreciated. Thank you.
